Freezing

Within Aberdeen Fertility Centre we have a license to freeze sperm, eggs and embryos.

Sperm

The Andrology Laboratory has a cryopreservation (freezing) facility that allows for the storage of semen samples should this be necessary.

  • Semen Cryostorage (0133)
  • Semen Cryostorage (Long Term Storage) (0134)
  • Semen Cryostorage (MESA) (0132)
  • Semen Banking (Information for Young People) (0104)

Embryos

Embryo freezing allows for the storage of surplus embryos following an IVF or ICSI cycle.  Embryos can be frozen for future use by couples facing potential fertility issues due to medical treatment, such as radiotherapy.

Eggs

Eggs can be frozen for future use by women facing potential fertility issues due to medical treatment such as radiotherapy.

Within an IVF treatment cycle occasionally semen is unavailable and therefore we would offer to freeze eggs obtained.
