Egg Recovery

The discomfort felt is very variable so the doctor will adjust the sedation and pain relief given during the procedure to your individual needs.  Intravenous antibiotics are given to reduce the risk of infection.

The Embryologists check the follicular fluid identifying the eggs (oocytes) under the microscope although not all follicles yield an egg.  The eggs which are collected are transferred to dishes containing culture media and these dishes are then placed in the incubator.
