Embryo Transfer

If fertilisation is successful embryo transfer will normally be performed two or three days after egg recovery.  The procedure involves passing a fine tube through the cervix into the uterus where the transfer is made.  Following embryo transfer you can return to normal activity but strenuous activity should be avoided where possible.

The goal of all fertility treatments is the delivery of a single, healthy child, born at full term.  This is the safest outcome for both the mother and child and this is the aim of treatments undertaken within Aberdeen Fertility Centre.

A guideline has been drawn up by clinical and embryology staff and will be discussed with you at your first clinic appointment and again on the day of embryo transfer as the quality of the embryos on this day is important in the decision regarding the number to transfer.  Please read the document hyperlinked below for further information.
