The Aberdeen Fertility Centre has consistently led innovative projects which has resulted in many publications in scientific journals and encouraged improvements in the effectiveness and safety of treatments. The Aberdeen Fertility Centre are unique within the UK in being the only University based Academic IVF Centre. We have a full portfolio of externally funded clinical research including population based studies and large clinical trials. Professor Siladitya Bhattacharya, Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Fertility is also the Director of Institute of Applied Health Sciences within the University of Aberdeen. Professor Bhattacharya is also the Editor in Chief of Human Reproduction Open – an online scientific journal which aims to improve the understanding of reproductive medicine and enhance the quality of clinical care by making scientific research freely accessible to those providing or seeking treatment

Dr Abha Maheshwari, Consultant & Clinical Lead Reproductive Medicine is an experienced clinician and has secured funding from the Department of Health to lead 'E-FREEZE: a national randomised controlled trial evaluating the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a policy of freezing all embryos followed by thawed frozen embryo transfer, compared with a policy of fresh embryo transfer in women undergoing in-vitro fertilization'.
